Mitsubishi Motors is Japan's 6th largest car manufacturer that was officially founded in 1970.

Mitsubishi gained international fame and recognition in the late 90's thanks to their incredible success in the World Rally Championship with their homologated Group A Lancer Evolution line. From 1996 to 1999 fin Tommi Mäkinen took the Evo to 4 successive drivers titles, including 1 manufacturers title in 1998 finally beating out long-time rival Subaru.

As such the Evo quickly gained a reputation as a road legal rally car thanks to the Group A regulations permitting very few modifications from the road going variant.

To this day the brand is synonymous with rallying and the Evo line is still popular long after the line was discontinued in 2016.
