AIRTEC Big Top Mount Intercooler with Snoot Boots for Mini Cooper S R53 / JCW

Bolt on BHP by lowering the charge Air temperatures! A remapped car has increased power by ECU changes that raise boost pressure and other parameters. This increase in boost pressure raise intake temps and power loss soon follows. By fitting an uprated intercooler you lower these intake temps, in turn increasing bhp and making your engine safer.

Results below were with bonnet closed on every run

Standard Intercooler - Peak power 204.9 bhp & 161.1 Ib/ft
Run 1 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 150 degrees / Out of Intercooler into engine 123 degrees
Run 2 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 152 degrees Out of Intercooler into engine 130 degrees
Run 3 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 155 degrees Out of Intercooler into engine 135 degrees

Conclusion: the standard intercooler on a tuned Mini just doesn't work. Most owners know this, here's the proof for other owners that didn't know.

Competitors Intercooler 50mm core (without Air diverter scoop) - Peak power 216.0 bhp & 171.4 Ib/ft
Run 1 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 124 degrees & Out of Intercooler into engine 66 degrees
Run 2 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 131 degrees & Out of Intercooler into engine 67 degrees
Run 3 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 140 degrees & Out of Intercooler into engine 89 degrees

Conclusion: This intercooler worked much better than standard but we feel the 50mm tube and fin core still couldn't handle highly tuned Mini's intake temps.

Run 1 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 130 degrees Out of Intercooler into engine 44 degrees
Run 2 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 137 degrees & Out of Intercooler into engine 47 degrees
Run 3 - Temp Into intercooler from charger 149 degrees & Out of Intercooler into engine 49 degrees

Conclusion: The Airtec 60mm bar and plate core works really well and keeps temps below 50 degrees
