Toyota GR Corolla short shifter is made from aircraft-grade 7075 aluminium and 304-grade stainless steel for the shifter base plate to meet Motorsport's level of demand for rigidity and reliability.
In-house developed by passionate engineers and tested by racing drivers around the world. CNC machined and hand-assembled in Lithuania.
The Story Behind Our GR Corolla Short Shifter
It all started back in October 2022, when we built our very first short shifter for the GR Yaris. A few months later, one of our customers from the USA reached out, asking if we could make a shifter for his GR Corolla.
After some research, we found out that the stock shifter mechanism was identical to the one in the GR Yaris — but the car’s interior and the trim around the gear lever were completely different.
Without hesitation, we decided to send him a GR Yaris shifter to try out. A few days later, he replied saying he thought he’d need to modify the trim around the shifter. To avoid damaging his original interior, he bought a used trim piece and went ahead with the installation.
He successfully installed our shifter, took a few photos, and told us what changes might be needed. That was the end of our collaboration — but we took his feedback seriously. We made some small updates and separated the GR Yaris and GR Corolla versions, since they were slightly different.
For a long time, we sold both models as direct bolt-on solutions. Strangely enough, we never received any complaints or feedback suggesting that modifications were needed — even though we sold dozens of them.
Then, in July 2024, our friends bought a GR Corolla and came to us for an installation. To our surprise, the shifter didn’t fit at all — the trim had to be cut to make it work. Confused, we started investigating what went wrong.
Eventually, we discovered that our very first US customer had actually bought a trim piece from a regular automatic Corolla, not from a GR model. That particular trim has a much larger opening, which is why our first design seemed to fit perfectly!
As frustrating as that was, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Since we now had a real GR Corolla in our workshop, we completely redesigned the shifter from scratch to make it a true plug-and-play solution — no cutting, no trimming.
A few months later, after 3D scanning the interior, we even made a custom plastic cover that neatly closes the small gap around the lever. The result was a 100% perfect fit for the GR Corolla.
I can confidently say that no other manufacturer has anything quite like it.
